DVR Basics?

A DVR allows you to watch TV on your own terms. With a DVR, you
can schedule recordings of any and every show you want, pause, fast
forward, and rewind live television, and store hours of your favorite
shows and movies. In fact, with your DVR you can set it to record
the entire season of your favorite show with just the click of a few
buttons.
Why is a DVR a Must Have?

How would you like an extra 20 minutes to an hour a day free to do
whatever you want? How much would that extra 30 hours a month be
worth to you? How about $6.
With a DVR, you can eliminate commercials from your life. During a
one hour show, there are approximately 20 minutes of commercials.
So, if you watch 3 hours of tv a day without a DVR, you can watch the
same amount of your favorite programming in only two hours, freeing up a
full hour to do the things you truly enjoy doing.
Plus, with a DVR, there are no longer any fights over which shows to
watch. Thursday night used to be TV fight night. I watch 30
Rock at 9:30. My girlfriend, like everyone else's girlfriend or
wife, watches Grey's Anatomy from 9 to 10. With a DVR, you can
record one show while watching another show (Or, in my case, record 30
Rock and watch it after Grey's Anatomy ends).
Dish Network vs DirecTV: Who has the better
DVR?

The most important
feature of a DVR is the recording space. The more space, the more
movies and shows you can store for a rainy day. By this measure,
Dish Network offers the better DVR, as you can record up to 100 hours
with their DVR as opposed to 70 hours with DirecTV's.
